I’m Dr. Erik Sowder, a licensed clinical psychologist, board-certified in biofeedback, specializing in biobehavioral therapy for stress-related illness. My work focuses on helping individuals regulate the connection between mind and body—particularly when chronic stress, anxiety, or physical symptoms interfere with daily life.
My approach integrates biofeedback, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based interventions to support lasting change. Biofeedback provides real-time insight into the body’s stress response, helping clients learn to self-regulate breathing, heart rate, and muscle tension. ACT and mindfulness further support this process by fostering psychological flexibility—teaching clients to relate differently to discomfort, anchor in the present moment, and take action guided by their values.
I work with children, teens, and adults experiencing conditions like chronic pain, abdominal distress, fatigue, and other forms of autonomic dysregulation. My practice is rooted in science, presence, and compassion, and I approach each client with curiosity and respect for their unique resilience and goals.
